Mireu Han

“Ultimately, I aim to create music that balances familiarity with innovation, evoking both warmth and
melancholy, and resonates emotionally with listeners. My mission is to share the beauty of
music through my own voice.”

Saxophonist and composer, Mireu Han, won the 1st prize of Kyunghyang Music Concour, which is the most famous and prestigious applied music competition in South of Korea. He is not only jazz musician, but also all-round talented musicians. He is currently preparing to release his first EP album which is also his debut album.

Background
He grew up surrounded by music, with a father who is also a musician, and a deep love for sharing art with others. This background instilled in me the desire to create music that not only speaks to me but also resonates with listeners. His ultimate goal is to write melodic, singable music that captures hearts.
At 15, he was moved when he heard Charlie Parker’s Bird Blues played live for the first time by someone who was also an alto player. That moment shifted his focus to jazz, and he began pursuing the saxophone with a passion.
His musical influences include artists like Sonny Rollins, Kenny Garrett, Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, and Kurt Rosenwinkel, whose soulful and spiritual sounds inspire him to shape his own unique voice as a player. He is also deeply influenced by all forms of art— recently, the novel Vegetarian has sparked new creative ideas for him.
